| Our Family Our branch of the Watson clan began in Scotland many years ago and eventually settled in Texas. Our grand parents lived in Montaque county around Saint Jo, Texas. They migrated to the Texas panhandle somewhere around 1930 and settled in Briscoe County. Our granddad was a cattle buyer and a great horse trader that made many a 'good deal' to the area ranches and local folks. He traded horses with the Pitchfork, the JA , the Matador and the Cogdell ranches in the panhandle. His name was Judson (Jud) A. Watson and he lived in Quitaque, Texas. Our Dad (Virgil S. Watson) worked for 50 years as a cowboy around Texas and New Mexico. He worked for the Jim Nail ranch at Albany, Texas and Matador ranch at Matador, Texas. He was hired to get the wild cows out of the Theo Giesler ranch in Briscoe county and the land is now the Caprock Canyon State Park in Texas. He also worked several ranches in New Mexico around Fort Sumner, Santa Rosa and Clovis. Eagle's Nest - Caprock Canyon State Park Jimmy and I (Bobby) grew up in Stamford, Texas (Go Bulldogs) in Jones county and have lived in the panhandle (Amarillo, Quitaque) and around the Fort Worth/Dallas area. We annually return home to be a part of the Texas Cowboy Reunion (back to return to this site) over the July 4th weekend. 'Watson Acres' are the current residence of Jim and Lynn in the Grandview area a little south of the Metroplex. |
